Military ranking in SuperPower 2 is determined by unit value[1]. More expensive units contribute more than cheap ones to the rank in each category. When calculating military strength, a country's nuclear arsenal (value of missiles) are added on-top of the value added from the other categories of the army.

Military ranking differs from military strength. Military ranking is any of the 5 categories whereas military strength is the value of the entire army.

Categories[]

Military ranking comes in 5 categories. Every country is ranked in each of them depending on the value of the units in each category:

  1. Soldier (personnel).
  2. Ground.
  3. Air.
  4. Navy.
  5. Nuclear.

Note: The number of units is not in itself the factor that determines the ranks (except for personnel). For example, Italy possesses 200 B1 bombers, thus ranks 3rd in Air, but other countries possess a larger fleet of aircrafts, but they are not as valuable as the 200 Italian bombers.

Military Ranking and Strength table[]

Below is a table showing the top ten countries by military ranking in each category as well as their final military strength rank. Because soldiers (personnel) have a static value of 5000, ranks in this category is always determined by quantity (the number of soldiers).

Rank Infantry Land Air Naval Nuclear Military Strength
1 China United States United States United States United States United States
2 India Russia Russia Russia Russia Russia
3 North Korea China China France France France
4 Pakistan India France United Kingdom China United Kingdom

10 Turkey Egypt Israel Italy N/A North Korea

Notes[]

  • It's possible to inflate a country's rank in certain categories (and ultimately the military strength) by producing 'bogus' unit types such as ballistic missile submarines. Despite nuclear submarines being largely unusable for actual combat.
    • Because of this it's always recommended to study enemy armies instead of fixating on rank. It's also good to understand unit efficiency between each unit type.
